Commonwealth Games 2018 is held between April 4th to April 15th in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. 71 nations have participated in the Commonwealth Games 2018 with the number of participants. Since Australia is hosting, it gave about 474 athletes from its country. All other nations have a reasonable count of participants, where India has 218 participants.
Australia, as expected, topped the medal Table with a staggering 198 medals. Its total number of gold medals was almost thrice than that of the next three nations in the chart. In the final medal tally, Australia with its top winning followed by England in second and India with third place.
This time really, India has to be recognized because of its idolize comeback after 2010, where India won 101 medals. When comparing to 2014 Commonwealth Games, India has proved its excellence by maintaining a Third place among 71 nations. India won all the three types of medals in various sports like Athletics, Shooting, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Table Tennis, and Squash.
Among all sports event, India’s shooters were the most successful, who have won a combined 16 medals (seven gold, four silver, and five bronze).
At last the closing ceremony of this 21st Commonwealth Games held on Sunday at Gold Coast with the greater celebration. For representing India, the legendary boxer M C Mary Kom carried the flag.
A successful CWG for India bagged 66 medals. Not to forget two historic gold medals in badminton and table tennis mixed team events. Let us hope higher and bright future for sports players.
